Forget Pink and Blue—Gender-Neutral Is 2017's New Nursery Trend

by GABRIELLE SAVOIE

"If your nursery is neutral, it's easier to fit into the rest of your décor," Jonathan Adler once told us. "It's cohesive and doesn't punch you in the face the way a pink, frilly princess palace would." As more and more parents-to-be ditch the traditional blue-for-boys and pink-for-girls color schemes, gender-neutral nurseries are becoming the norm, not the exception. As Adler explains, a nursery should flow with the rest of your décor, not disrupt it.

But with the now overwhelming number of decorating options, it can be hard to narrow down a specific color scheme or theme for your new nursery. So how do you decorate a neutral nursery from A to Z? By meeting functional needs, focusing on texture, and being creative with colors, it's possible to have your nursery ready before you've even found out the sex of the baby. Ahead, our favorite nurseries prove that pink and blue are out. Here are some gender-neutral nursery ideas to inspire you (and teach you a few tips along the way).

Dust Off Your Résumé—You'll Want to Work in This Minimal Office Space

by JONATHAN STEINITZ

There are places where you do your work, and there are places where you get inspired. But can the two be one and the same? The modern workplace is a concept that’s ever-evolving. First, it was coveting the corner office instead of the cubicle. Next, it was all about communal workspaces. And even more recently, remote work has been on the rise. So if you’re going to head into the office, you want it to be somewhere that’s inspiring, a place that sets the right tone for the work to be done.

We recognize the importance of a chic office space that promotes both productivity and creativity; after all, our own L.A. headquarters was designed with those exact principles in mind. And we’re equally obsessed with the Los Angeles office of jewelry startup MOTIF for the same reason. Located in Venice and designed by Stefani Stein, the workspace-meets-showroom-meets–event venue reflects a clear company vibe: creative, fashion-forward, and all about showcasing the sparkle of the product. And from the very first glance, the design features in this minimal modern office had us considering dusting off our résumés.
